October came and took its place!<\/p>\n

Those who risked a last bit of vacation enjoyed the freshness of the new season and the many weddings and events that finally closed the season here on Monte had their challenges. What an incredible season!<\/p>\n

The season changes, the theme changes, and we want to launch clues for bike rides in the Alentejo – and in the fall!
\nToday we leave you with a few notes on the fine art of cycling. Did you know that we have a bike-friendly<\/em> certification ?<\/em><\/p>\n

We don’t have our own trails designed for tracking<\/em> or mountain biking in the Monte’s acres, but we welcome the more or less adventurous, singles or groups, providing them with well-rested nights. Get your group together and come here.<\/p>\n

You can discover the 14,000 cycling kilometers in Portugal and plot your route here on the Bikotel<\/a> website, which brings together routes and accommodation for lovers of two wheels. Another suggestion, extended to kids, is to enjoy a weekend of car-free roads to learn how to ride a bike, without helping wheels, without fear, without haste, with ups and downs, different surfaces and many achievements.

In the meantime, we’ve turned off summer and there are “only” 75 days left until Christmas, warns the always very prompt and themed internet. What to do in these two and a half months…?<\/p>\n

Well, just let it come, without rushing. Our rhythm is that of the seasons, of sunrise and sunset, of the animals of the countryside, of the natural world – after all, what does the internet understand about life outside a screen?<\/p>\n

With the cooler weather and misty mornings, we “go inside”, as they say in the Alentejo. And there’s coziness inside our typical houses, built for the sun and the cold.<\/p>\n

There is a fireplace, stove, heating, good blankets and covers. We open a bottle of a robust red<\/a> from our neighbors, well accompanied by a cured cheese or a plate of sausages from the other neighbors<\/a>, sitting down to work or to read a book, while looking at the changing landscape.
\nIn a month’s time, it’ll be St. Martin’s Day, time for chestnuts and oven flavors. November starts with a public holiday on a Friday. Just saying…!<\/p>\n
