There’s a smell of roasting chestnuts, a few bowls of homemade marmalade pop up here and there, and pomegranates are being patiently peeled to add to salads. And it’s time for coats, socks and proper shoes, don’t forget blanket for the sofa.
It’s winter time, days are much shorter and we feel like curling up and snuggling.
Ready to discover the charm of these gloomy days? Autumn in the Alentejo has a lot of flavor and charm!
November brings us the 26th edition of FIBAQ, the international hot air balloon festival. It takes place from November 7th to the 13th, in several locations in Alto Alentejo and is one of the biggest and most important festivals in Europe.
You only have to imagine the landscape filled with these colorful balloons floating in the clouds to know that it’s an absolutely magical experience – and for those who want to venture out, there are free flights!
We continue in the spirit of adventure, now 4×4. The second weekend of December (5 to 8) is for off-road lovers, with the great endurance race, the 24h TT Fronteira, in its 26th edition, organized by the ACP, taking place at the Fronteira race track.
Join us and enjoy the ride there!
At Monte do Ramalho, we’re waiting for São Martinho: the rustic houses are ready for your arrival, the fireplaces are well stocked with fire wood. These gray days are perfect for roasting chestnuts on the fire and this ingenious trick, beautifully illustrated by Leonor Casanova, is foolproof – we tested it and approved it, after a first batch of unpeelable chestnuts!
Get your group of friends together (and some good bottles…!), bring the kids and pets, warm clothes and wellies – Monte do Ramalho has a very special beauty in the fall too.
The warmth of the fire only adds to the flavor!
