Work with a view

The light is more oblique, the mornings and evenings are cooler, and the return—to work, to school, to routine—is a few days away. September has arrived!

Autumn will settle in over the coming weeks, signaling the end of lazy days. In the gaps between new schedules, it’s time to start planning some autumn getaways!
Our wedding season is also nearing its end, making it time to rest from a busy few months and prepare for the next chapter on our calendar: the return of family weekends, countryside walks, romantic or professional retreats, and work tourism.

Our Alentejo autumn will still have many mild days. The landscape changes at the pace of the season, and the sky seems sprinkled with glitter. It’s perfect for playing with the SkyView app, and the kids will be fascinated.
Now that the temperatures are less extreme, we invite you to enjoy bike rides. We’re officially bike-friendly, and between the diverse geography of Monte do Ramalho’s vast property and the surrounding towns, there’s something for everyone—from a simple family ride to an adventure with experienced friends.

Cycling offers a sense of freedom and escape—remember the trailer from TV series Verão Azul?

If your kids haven’t mastered cycling yet, this might be the perfect spot to learn. No cars, no rush, just soft paths with gentle inclines that can handle any wobbles!

And since we’re talking about getting back to activities, let’s discuss work tourism.

Remote work and digital nomads are trends that have taken hold, accelerated by the pandemic.

While it’s not for everyone, for those who can embrace this approach, work tourism offers an intriguing opportunity. Instead of just changing your surroundings for rest, you can now change your scenery for work!

Under the shade of century-old fig trees, in front of our three Alentejo cottages, there’s a stone table. The view overlooks a valley filled with olive trees. Birds chirp, insects buzz on warmer days, and sometimes you might spot a hare hopping around. The sunset unfolds slowly, and twilight is a beautiful spectacle of nature’s charm.

All you need is a laptop, good portable internet, and a very nice notebook to accompany this soothing view for a focused workday, free of distractions.
We invite you to experience this unique way of working!

We’ve talked about bike rides and work.

Let’s not forget about snacks, because, as they say, “If you’re not good to eat, you’re not good to work!”

Here at Monte do Ramalho, we prepare lunch and dinner with Alentejo roots, delivered right to your cottage. If you feel like exploring, the charming town of Avis has several delightful restaurants. And if you want to end your workday with a sunset drink, we have a well-stocked wine cellar that pairs perfectly with a platter of local cured meats from Fumeiro da Vila, our neighbors in Ervedal, and fresh bread delivered in the morning.

Doesn’t make the return to work sound so bad, does it?
